KUCHING: A land has been acquired for the construction of a new Industrial Training Institute (ILP) in Serian.
The cost will not be less than RM250 million, just like all other 32 ILPs throughout the country.
“The project is currently under planning phase. We have been working on it for the past two years.
“Former Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem had already approved of the project in the past and now we are relaying the project to the current Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg who has also approved of it,” said Minister of Human Resources Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem when speaking to the reporters paying a courtesy call to Johari yesterday at Wisma Bapa Malaysia.
Currently there are three ILPs in the state where two of them are giving out certificates (Kota Samarahan and Miri) while another in Bintulu gives out Diploma credentials.
“The Serian ILP will add another one to Sarawak’s ILP count. It will also adapt the division’s name just like other ILPs in the state,”
Meanwhile, Riot added he was optimist that the country would be able to achieve 35 per cent of skilled work force within the next three and a half years.
