MIRI: Community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK) must exemplify integrity and serve as role models for their communities.

Speaking at the Integrity Roadshow for the Lambir constituency here on Wednesday, Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat stressed the importance of KMKK in monitoring development projects in their respective areas.

He emphasised that it is essential for KMKK to ensure projects are implemented according to specifications, with no deviations.

“KMKK must be the role models for their communities. They play a crucial role in overseeing development projects, ensuring these are completed according to set standards.

“They are also expected to report any irregularities or project delays so that appropriate actions can be taken,” he said.

In addition, Dr Ripin highlighted the role of KMKK, alongside the Village Development and Safety Committee (JKKK), as the ‘eyes and ears’ of the government.

“Beyond monitoring projects, KMKK must also be vigilant about social issues such as crime and drug abuse, which can undermine community integrity.
