KUCHING: Ramles Walter, Kapit’s youngest popular artist, possesses a wonderfully dulcet voice. He embarked on his music career in 2019, and since then, every new song he releases has gone “trending”, captivating the interests of people both within and beyond the music industry.
Ramles Walter, 24, expressed his passion for music from a young age and participated in a singing competition during high school. As the youngest among four siblings, he credits the continuous support and encouragement from his parents and siblings for helping him achieve his dream of becoming an artist.
In an interview with the New Sarawak Tribune, Ramles expressed his heartfelt gratitude, stating, “I would like to say a million thanks for always being by my side, whatever the circumstances, in good or bad.”
His parents and siblings remain a source of inspiration and encouragement, especially during challenging times in his career. Ramles cherishes the guidance he receives from his mentor in both the music industry and life, his father.
When asked about his music idol, he immediately mentioned Hael Husaini, a renowned singer in Malaya, admiring Hael’s consistently “trending” songs and his overall presence in the music scene.
Ramles has composed 25 songs, with his debut track titled “Ketegal Salah Sangka”. Among his most popular and frequently trending songs are “Ensiban”, “Tua Ditemuka Petara”, “Aram Begawai”, “Richah Gawai”, “Hey Kumang”, and his latest single, “Ai Yai Yai”.
Regarding his passion for the music industry, Ramles shared, “As long as the talent resides within me, I will continue to be interested and involved in this field. However, public acceptance has been a significant challenge for me, both at the beginning of my journey and throughout my career as an artist. It is an unforgettable experience to have the unwavering support of amazing fans, but it is also disheartening to face criticism from netizens.”
When asked about his perspective on the state of the music industry in Sarawak and Malaysia, Ramles expressed his hope for its growth and recognition on par with the international music industry.
Before gaining recognition, Ramles actively participated in singing competitions. Moving forward, he plans to release more new songs and wishes for the continued support of his fans, who have been instrumental in his journey within the Dayak music industry.
