SIBU: A riverine erosion project at Rh Dennis Ansam in Bawang Assan is expected to be completed in November this year.

The village’s safety and development committee (JKKK) head of development bureau Sammy Dennis said the project costing RM80,000 was currently 50 percent completed.

“This project will take three months to complete according to the original schedule,” he said when inspecting the project site together with officers from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) on Friday.

He said the 64-metre long wall constructed along the river bank would prevent soil erosion from occurring and threatening the safety of the longhouse.

Sammy thanked the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government, under the leadership of Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is always concerned with development in rural areas.
