KANOWIT: Sarawak government has approved a total of RM1.5 billion fund for infrastructure facilities in Kanowit and Selangau.

According to National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, the project will be developed under the Rascom Development Agency (Rasda).

“Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has approved an allocation of RM1.5 billion for the project, which is to improve the infrastructure in Kanowit and Selangau,” he said in his speech at the Kanowit-level Rabies Prevention and Control Awareness Campaign 2023 here yesterday.

The Kanowit MP said the project will also emphasise the socio-economics of the two areas through sustainable agricultural activities.

“We have organised several labs to explain the Rasda project for a clearer understanding among the people,” he said.

Meanwhile, on rabies, he said a total of five deaths were reported in the Kanowit district during the 2022-2023 period.

“This is something to be worried about because if we don’t do something about it, more deaths could happen,” he said.
