SIBU: Sungai Assan residents can take a deep breath soon when 1.6km long Jalan Sungai Assan which is frequently flooded, is fully upgraded.
Upon completion, the upgrading project of Jalan Sungai Assan will benefit about 1,000 residents from eight longhouses in the area.
The project which has been going on for two weeks was meant to upgrade the road.
Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Dudong branch chairman Wong Ching Yong said the project was administered by Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak.
“The project costs about RM1 million,” he told reporters after inspecting the construction site yesterday.
Wong said the project started in March but due to movement control order (MCO), it was put on hold and has restarted only two weeks ago. It is scheduled to finish before Gawai.
