SIBU: The construction of the 22km Jalan Sungai Bidut/Kampung Sebedil/Kampung Bungan Kecil Package A has been completed, said Datuk Aidel Lariwoo.

According to the Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, the project cost about RM104 million.

“This includes two bridges, namely Sungai Tutus Bridge and Sungai Sabang Bridge,” he said when met by reporters at the project site today (Nov 7).

He added that the project marked the beginning of the alignment to connect Sibu to the Igan area and Dalat through the Sungai Bidut area.

“We have already completed the design for Package B, and we have two or three more packages to connect to the Igan area on the left, while on the right, we have about five large and small packages to connect to Dalat,” he said.

He also mentioned that the completion of these projects will reduce travel time from Igan or Dalat to Sibu compared to the current route.

Meanwhile, when asked whether the road will be equipped with street lights, he said it would depend on demand or the needs of the local people.
