LUBOK ANTU: Lubok Antu MP Jugah Muyang said the Lubok Antu Phase II rural water supply project has been approved for implementation at a cost of RM117.837 million.
He said the project’s status had been submitted on June 20, 2019 and a letter of acceptance is expected to be released by the third quarter of this year. The 24-month project is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
“It is expected to supply treated water to five schools and 1,050 houses in 54 villages with a total population of 20,112 people. This is 70 percent of Lubok Antu’s population,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Phase II of the project involves the installation of 22.5 kilometres of main pipes and 140 kilometres of distribution pipes.
In addition, he said, the expansion of the water treatment plant capacity from 7.5 million litres per day (MLD) to 15 MLD would be implemented with the addition of four water reservoirs and three booster stations.
“I am very pleased that the implementation of this project in the near future will solve the problems we have been facing,” he said.
With continuous supply of clean water, he expected the lives of the people in Lubok Antu to be more comfortable, safer and healthier.
“We hope they have a better life after the project has been completed,” he said.
