PADAWAN: The Sarawak government has allocated RM14 million for the Bengoh Resettlement Scheme (BRS) village expansion programme.

Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil reaffirmed that the state government is focusing on developing the BRS area.

As such, he said the Sarawak government has requested the Education Ministry to establish a modern, well-equipped school in the area.

“The BRS area has significantly contributed to the water supply infrastructure in the Kuching area.

“Without the sacrifices of the four villages, the water supply throughout the Kuching area, via the Batu Kitang water treatment plant and others, would not have been possible,” he said during the Mother’s Day and Pre-Gawai celebrations in Kampung Semban on Saturday (May 18).

On the same note, the Mambong assemblyman said residents in the BRS area have been able to adapt to the state’s plans.

He urged the Sarawak Agriculture Department to help improve the livelihoods of residents in the area through the organisation of agricultural and livestock programmes.
