BINTULU: Sarawak State Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar recently allocated RM145,000 for mosques and suraus in the Jepak and Tanjong Batu constituencies.
Ten mosques received RM10,000 each, while nine suraus were given RM5,000.
“This allocation is meant to ease the financial burden on these religious institutions as they carry out their community work,” said Asfia.
In addition, 16 village chiefs from the area were given consolations.
Asfia urged residents of Jepak and Tanjong Batu to support their elected representatives to ensure smooth development.
He also called for unity among the Va’ie community amid the current political climate.
Also present were Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming, Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee, and Muhamad Ali Asfia, Special Officer for Jepak Jaya Development.
