KUCHING: Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii has allocated RM146,865 to upgrade and purchase new equipment for Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK) Bintawa to provide a safer and more comfortable environment for both students and staff.

In a Facebook post, Dr Yii claimed many of the school’s office and classroom furnishings, including desks and chairs, are in poor condition and have never been replaced.

He also noted that the library tables are severely damaged and have been taped together for continued use.

“Additionally, the school’s Special Education class is also anticipating an increase in enrollment next year, with 60 more students expected in 2025. This makes the current number of desks and chairs insufficient to meet the demand.

“In response to the school’s request, my office has allocated RM146,865 to purchase new desks, chairs, and storage cabinets for the teachers’ office, administrative office, principal’s office, library, life skills room, and classrooms.

“We will also acquire teaching equipment such as notice boards and printers,” he said.
