KUCHING: A man was fined RM1,500 in default one month’s jail for drunk driving under Section 45A (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Lo Leong Boon was caught under the influence of alcohol driving at 1.30am on March 23 along Jalan Simpang Tiga.

His vehicle was stopped by a team of police led by ASP Azlizi Razali who were conducting ‘Ops Mabuk’ along the road.

Subsequently, his breath test showed a high level of alcohol. Lo was then given another test and the alcohol content in his body was 193mg per 100ml of blood.

The allowed alcohol limit is 80mg per 100ml of blood. He was then charged for drunk driving.

State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, meanwhile, revealed that the police would conduct ‘Ops Mabuk’ every now-and-then to deter drunkards from driving as they could endanger the lives of others.
