LINGGA: The winner of the River King title in this year’s series of regattas in Sarawak will clash in the “Battle Of Titan,” introduced as a new event at the Lingga Regatta next month.
In a statement, the Lingga Regatta Working Committee, announced the new event, namely, the Bidar 30 rowing – Battle Of Titan.
“In this event, we invite and gather teams that have held the River King title throughout the 2023 regatta,” he said.
Secretary Awang Irwandy Awang Yaman explained that 20 teams from various areas in Sarawak had expressed their interest in the Lingga Regatta which would take place from from December 7 to 10.
“One special invited team is the organiser from Brunei, namely, 1SPTB Brunei.
“The others from various regions throughout Sarawak, include Lanun Dinara Cut (Saratok), Benak Sadong (Simunjan), Pak Anjang (Simunjan), Team Komen (Asajaya), Bintang 9 Komeng Saribas (Tuie), Nur Cahaya Helang (Simunjan), Barracuda (Pusa), Kijang Mas Ular Melancar-Pansuman (Simunjan), and Dang Esah Tandang Sari (Kalok).
“In addition, there are Bintulu Port Garuda (Tambak), Intan Terpilih (Sungai Ladong), Cahaya Intan (Sungai Ladong), Cahaya Puteri Lilin (Tebelu), Laksamana Ariff (Tebelu), Sinampuan Lawas ft Burung Garuda (Lawas), Khazanah (Serembang), Cahaya Putri Ruai (Sebuyau), Cahaya Sulong (Sebuyau), and the host team Seluang Putih (Sri Datai),” he stated.
He added that registration was still open until November 29.
In this year’s edition, the winner of the River King title at Lingga will take home RM15,000.
