BAU: Deputy Minister of Transport and Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep announced a RM2 million allocation from the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) for the construction of a community centre in Kampung Tasik Biru.

“This initiative goes beyond just a building. It’s about upgrading and preserving the cultural heritage of our Bidayuh village,” he said during the launching ceremony of the village’s kitchen and restroom facilities recently.

The centre, designed in the style of a traditional eight-door longhouse, will connect to the existing multipurpose hall. It will also encompass a Christian centre, a baruk, and a tanju overlooking Tasik Biru.

“The first phase of construction is already underway, with the Bau District Council managing the project. We’re currently finalising the appointment of an architectural consultant to design the building,” he added.

He also approved a RM5,000 Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant to the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK).
