MUKAH: Mukah Division Rural Water Supply Department was adjudged as the Best Stall of the MAKSAK GawaiRaya Gathering 2017, recently.
With the win, the department which is one of the latest government departments in this district walked away with RM500 and a framed certificate.
First and second runners-up were the host, Dewan Suarah Mesra Mukah and Mukah Division Land and Survey Department, respectively.
The two entities each took home RM300 and RM200, plus framed certificate, respectively during the auspicious event which was staged at the Civic Centre here.
The winners were among 31 participating government departments and agencies and non-governmental bodies here that took part in the event which featured about 80 kinds of foodstuffs.
The guests of honour of the GawaiRaya were Tellian Assemblyman, Yussibnosh Balo and Balingian Assemblyman, Abdul Yakub Haji Arbi.
At the event the two assemblymen announced a total grant of RM20,000 to Mukah Division MAKSAK for the organisation to run its activities.
In his speech, Yussibnosh considered the theme of `1 Mukah, 1 Kerajaan Mengerat Silaturahim’ as a big one and has a very meaningful message so that all the government departments and agencies cooperate and work as a team to serve the people and the division.
Yakub in his speech stressed on the importance of having a cordial relationship between the colourful society of Mukah which is the strength and backbone of the development of the area.
Mukah Division Resident, Awang Johari B Awang Mustapha, who also spoke reminded civil servants to be prepared and work hand in hand diligently especially to achieve the aspiration of transforming Mukah into a Smart City in the near future.
Also present were two political secretaries to the Chief Minister, Haji Kenil Haji Jaraie & Faridah Osman, Mukah District Officer, Shafrie Saili, school principals, heads of departments and local community leaders.
The event kicked off with a welcoming presentation by a Sape Group coordinated by Nanang Ak William Nai from MARA Junior Science College Mukah.
It was followed by the feast of the night and visits to the participating stall by the guests of honour who sampled some of the delicacies.
Other activities held were musical band performance, Ngajat by Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) Mukah Branch, Karaoke session, dance by 1Malaysia Serumpun Recreation Club and food stalls competition.
A staffer of a local Youth and Sports Office, Dayang Masniah Bohan was the luckiest visitor of the night when she won the grand prize of a lucky draw in the form of a washing machine.
