MIRI:  The state government has allocated RM200,000 for landslide prevention works on slopes at Kampung Peliau.

Bekenu state assemblywoman Rosey Yunus today handed over a cheque for the amount  on behalf of the State Natural Disaster Management Committee to Miri Natural Disaster Management Committee chairman and Miri Resident Mastapa Julaihi at the Sarawak Islamic Complex here.

Also present were Deputy State Secretary Datu Jaul Samion and Kampung Peliau’s chief Sangin Hujan.

The village’s internet centre was affected by a landslide in 2017.

Ever since then, more than 40 children in the village of nearly 300 people were not able to use the facilities provided at the centre.
