SARATOK: The Sarawak government’s move to fork out RM200 million of its own money first to carry out repairs on dilapidated schools and clinics reflects its commitment to its people.
Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said it shows that it wants to improve the landscape of education and health in the state.
“I believe Sarawak is the first to implement this kind of thing. We have previously waited too long for dilapidated schools and clinics to be repaired.
“It is true that the federal government implements this but it takes time. So when the Sarawak government is willing to use its own allocation first, we should welcome it.
“The people of Sarawak should be grateful to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg,” he said.
He is confident that it can speed up the process of upgrading schools in the interior of Sarawak.
“As for the clinics, it will provide for a more conducive facility to the people in the interior.
“And the 18-month period is a clear commitment that the Sarawak government wants the projects to be implemented quickly to benefit the people in the countryside,” he said.
