SARIKEI: The road upgrade project for Jalan Tong Ah worth RM219,000 in the rural area of Bintangor here has been completed, bringing much-needed relief to local residents.

The project was made possible through funding secured by Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii from the Sarawak Rural and Regional Development Ministry (KKDW).

It involved the construction of a 475-metre long concrete road to improve accessibility for the local community.

In addition to the road paving, the works included the installation of four culverts to ensure proper drainage.

“With the completion of this project, the entire main road of Jalan Tong Ah is now fully paved with concrete, providing greater convenience for residents and easing the transport of agricultural produce,” Huang said in a statement.

The Repok assemblyman was represented by his aide Gung Chiu Kion during a site visit to the project, alongside civil engineer from the KKDW Technical Unit Shahrul Hisyam Ali yesterday (Sept 18).
