KUCHING: Eleven Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) units in Demak Laut were given a total of RM22,000 by the constituency’s assemblyman, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, on Monday.
This grant was handed over during the closing ceremony of the Saberkas Taman Sepakat Jaya Sports Carnival here where each of the 11 units was allocated RM 2,000 to improve their community activities.
The beneficiaries included several Saberkas units from Kampung Semilang Kuching, Kampung Tabuan Hilir, Kampung Tabuan Dani, Kampung Tabuan Tengah (TATUS), Kampung Tabuan Tengah, Kampung Tabuan Lot Kuching, Kampung Sungai Bako, Kampung Tabuan Haji Drahman 1, Kampung Hijrah, Taman Sepakat Jaya, Tabuan Darat, and Kampung Tabuan Haji Drahman 2.
Dr. Hazland hoped that the grant would be effectively used for the betterment of the community.
“Besides organising sports activities, Saberkas Demak Laut branch also provides certified courses in collaboration with accredited local agencies that give focus on skills and entrepreneurship to help improve the household economy,” he said.
