BINTULU: A total of RM239,000 worth of minor rural project (MRP) cheques were presented to seven longhouses’ village development and security committees (JKKK) of Kakus constituency on Saturday (Jul 3).
Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Native Laws and Customs) Datuk John Sikie Tayai, who is also Kakus assemblyman, presented the cheques to representatives of the JKKKs during a ceremony held at Tuai Rumah Ado, Lubok Kubong Kakus.
“More MRP cheques will be issued this year,” he said during the handover ceremony.
Sikie added that the distribution of the cheques will be done in stages and reminded the recipients to use the grants wisely.
He also revealed that the state government has approved the Sarawak Alternative Water Supply System project for Lubok Kubong, and that it has already commenced despite some delays due to the enforcement of the movement control order.
