THE construction of the Meradong Mini Industrial Park has been approved under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
Deputy Minister of International Trade and Investment Datuk Malcolm Mussen Lamoh said a new site with a land size of six hectares at Jalan Pasi near Sungai Meradong bridge has been approved for the purpose.
Malcolm said this in response to the question raised by Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing (GPS-Meradong) who asked if the ministry has any plan to introduce light industrial estates in Meradong as the existing one is too near to the housing estates, a sports complex, schools and government departments which is deemed unsuitable to serve its original purpose.
Responding to Ding’s supplementary question, Malcolm the approved scheme value for the Meradong Mini Industrial Park is RM25 million, with the approved ceiling under 12MP at RM500,000 only.
“Nonetheless, my ministry has applied to increase the ceiling under 12MP,” he added.
Malcolm also said that his ministry plans to build ‘Anjung Usahawan’ equipped with facilities such as a processing centre, kiosks, a food centre, incubators, and a public area.
“The Meradong Industrial Park is mainly for general industries such as food processing, agro-based and wood-based industries,” he added.
