KUCHING: 38 mosques and surau in Pantai Damai, Demak Laut, Batu Lintang and Batu Kitang State Constituencies on Sunday night received Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants worth a total of RM255,000.
Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly, Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar presented the grants at the Darul Hana Mosque here.
Each mosque received RM10,000 whi le each surau received RM5,000. Asked to comment on the statement by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak that all rights belonging to Sarawak and Sabah under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) would be restored, Asfia replied that Sarawak’s stand on MA63 had been explained by Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“The issue has also been brought up in the State Legislative Assembly and commented on by every Barisan Nasional (BN) component party,” he added.
“We support the Chief Minister’s stand and agree with what has been approved by the State Legislative Assembly.”
Also present at the presentation of grants were the Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity and Pantai Damai State Assemblyman, Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi and Demak Laut State Assemblyman, Dr Hazlan Hipni.
