PADAWAN: The Sarawak Government through the Greater Kuching Development Coordination Agency (GKCDA) has allocated RM20 million and RM9 million for Kampung Sapit and Kampung Kiding, respectively.
Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said this funding is intended to bolster the local road network, thereby stimulating the tourism sector in these regions.
“These areas have become tourist hotspots through camping programmes that allow visitors to enjoy themselves in the natural allure, especially during sunrise.
“This area has also been declared as part of the Sarawak Delta Geopark,” he said.
He said this during the closing ceremony of the Handcraft Course organised by the Women’s Bureau of Kampung Biya Sapit here today (Apr 27).
Dr Jerip, who is also Mambong assemblyman, urged residents to always preserve and keep the rivers clean in this area, as they are the main source of water for the residents in Kuching.
In support of this initiative, he allocated RM5,000 to Kampung Sapit to facilitate a community clean-up initiative along the rivers.
Furthermore, he also announced a Minor Rural Project (MRP) fund amounting to RM30,000 for the Women’s Bureau of Kampung Sapit to facilitate their annual activities.
