The appointment of an implementing contractor for four rural development road projects worth RM2mil has been confirmed, raising hopes for timely completion and benefits for the local populace.
Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri expressed optimism that these projects, funded by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), would proceed as scheduled.
The road projects are set to improve connectivity in Kampung Pagan, Kampung Kaba, and Kampung Hulu Perpat.
“I personally attended the site handover to the appointed contractor. I am grateful to KKDW for their assistance throughout the application and approval process,” he said after inspecting some of the roads in Kampung Pagan that will be upgraded.
He also highlighted the importance of prioritising infrastructure, including roads and drainage systems, to facilitate successful agricultural activities. He noted that improved infrastructure contributes to better socioeconomic conditions for the local population.
During a visit to the Saratok District Agriculture Office, Mohamad engaged in discussions on potential aid that could be channelled to assist farmers in the Kalaka state constituency.
He underscored the significance of enhancing agricultural yields, discussing ongoing agricultural projects such as upgrading garden roads under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).
“There is also plans for a future factory construction in the area to bolster the agricultural sector and provide employment opportunities.”
He called upon agencies like the Department of Agriculture to provide the necessary infrastructure, including fertilizer assistance and seedlings, to support farmers effectively.
KKDW Sarawak engineer Ir Shahrul Hisyam Ali and Kalaka Assemblyman Service Centre representative Gapor Ahmad were also present.
