KUCHING: A total of RM3,000 in prizes awaits the champion at the Masi Rod Fishing Competition in Kampung Perpat, at the end of December.
Spokesperson for the organiser, Councillor Saee Ason, said the competition was organised by the Kampung Tengah Perpat Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and Neigbourhood Watch Area (KRT).
“Since this is one of the activities to celebrate the 2025 New Year, the competition will be held on December 29, offering a grand prize of RM3,000 for the champion,” he told Suara Sarawak, today.
He explained that the first and second runners-up will take home prizes of RM800 and RM500 respectively.
“As a consolation, the fourth to 10th place winners will be given RM50.
“For the fee, RM50 is set, which is reserved for one rod and one hook,” he said.
For the angler who lands the fish the fastest, and the fish weighing 500 grammes and above will receive RM300.
Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri, who took time off to visit the competition location, praised the determination of the Kampung Perpat’s leadership in organising the event this time.
“With activities like these, it will attract outsiders to visit Kampung Perpat. I, on behalf of the organisers, welcome the participation of the public to enliven the Masi Rod Fishing Competition in Kampung Perpat,” he said.
