RM30,000 grant for the holding of Kapit Fest

KAPIT: Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi handed over a government grant of RM30,000 to Kapit Resident Joseph Belayong after launching the Kapit Fest at the Old Airport here on Saturday.

The Kapit Resident is an advisor to the Kapit Fest organising committee.

107 stalls have put up to sell food, clothes, handicraft,  pua kumbu, beadworks, local fruits and jungle produces.

To promote Kapit as tourist attraction  iconic events like power boat race, Baleh-Kapit Raft Safari and handicraft exhibitions will be held in conjunction with the festival.

Present at the opening ceremony of Kapit Fest were Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Wallace Paul Kilat who represented Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang, political secretaries to the Chief Minister Nicholas Kudi Jantai, Tapah Ata and Michael Mujah, organising chairman, Galong Luang who is also the deputy Resident, Kapit Resident Joseph Belayong, Kapit District Officer Elvis Didit, Bukit Mabong District Officer Douglas Pungga, Song District Officer Jacklyn August, administrative officers Wee Teck Ming, Minggu Jampong, Vanessa George, Grace Anyie, Mohd Shukri , MDTCC officer Jubing Jagong and community leaders.
