KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, has allocated RM30,000 to Kuching South City Council (MBKS), the organiser of the Kuching Got Talent competition to finance it.

This was announced by Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, who represented Tengah at the grand finale of the competition held at the MBKS Open Theatre on Saturday.

“We know that our education system places a high emphasis on academic achievements and good grades.

This is not enough for our young talents to develop further. So, this is where our events of this nature come in.

“ We all know that good grades are not sufficient gauges of the real worth and abilities of a person. There are other facets that must be developed for the students to grow into well-rounded citizens.

“Community service, sports, arts and the music are some of these aspects,” said Tengah in his speech read by Sim.
