LUBOK ANTU: Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) has allocated RM300,000 under the Batang Ai Education Trust Fund specifically for local children to further their studies.
SEB general manager for Gas Cheling Sapong said this fund is specially provided for the children of Batang Ai to pursue diploma or degree levels, with the scholarships being given as a one-off payment to the students.
He said this while speaking at the Gawai Celebration of the Batang Ai Hydroelectric Plant (HEP) 2024 here recently.
During the event, SEB also presented cheques to their 10 adopted schools in the area.
Also in attendance was the Deputy Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment and Batang Ai assemblyman Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh.
Additionally, Cheling expressed gratitude to Mussem for contributing RM20,000 to support this programme.
