DALAT: The State government has approved four water supply upgrading projects totalling RM34 million to be implemented in Dalat District.
These projects include the Relocation of Sg Kut Raw Water Intake, Improvement Works to existing water supply system at Dalat, Oya & Kut, Water Supply under SAWAS for Kpg Klid & Kpg Narub, and Water Supply under SAWAS for Ng Baoh.
Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg yesterday approved the projects which would be completed within 18 months while on a working visit to monitor clean water supply issue here. Upon arrival in Dalat Bazaar, he attended a briefing by the Rural Water Supply Department at Dalat District Office. After the two-hour briefing, Johari, who was accompanied by the Minister for Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, proceeded to a water treatment plant at Sungai Kut Muara.
Fatimah, who is also Dalat State Assemblywoman, thanked the Chief Minister for personally going to the ground to see the problem.
“On behalf of the people in Dalat and Ng Baoh, I would like to thank Johari for personally going to the ground to see the problem.
“In the interim period whenever there is water interruption at Sg Kut Muara due to siltation at the water intake point, the water supply will be supplied from the Dalat water treatment plant in Dalat.
This will alleviate the interruption of water while the pump is being repaired,” she explained.
