KUCHING: A prize money totalling RM38,150 awaits participants of the Siol Mountain Bike Challenge 2022.
Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) is the organiser, and it takes place at the Siol MTB Track, Bukit Siol here.
“This competition is a collaboration with the Malaysian National Cycling Federation and Sarawak Cycling Association, and is from Aug 26-28,” said Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
“The Siol Mountain Bike Challenge is held annually by DBKU.
“The main sponsor is the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts with an allocation of RM150,000.
“For your information, Cross Country Eliminator (XCE) is a newly introduced category,” added the Minister for Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development at a press conference last Tuesday.
This year, five categories with nine sub-categories would be contested. The competition is open to the public, especially extreme sport enthusiasts.
Among the categories and sub-categories are Men’s Open, Cross Country Olympic (XCO), Men’s Elite, Women’s Elite, Men’s Junior and Men’s Master B, Cross Country Relay (XCR), Downhill Individual (DHI) and more.
Also present at the press conference were DBKU mayor Datuk Junaidi Reduan and Sarawak Cycling Association president Datuk Benjamin Hasbie.
