2020 State Budget
To continue the digital economy initiatives, the Sarawak government will provide RM400 million for various digital economy activities next year.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said among the activities would be the construction of 300 telecommunication towers, smart agriculture, Sarawak Integrated Operation Centre, smart traffic lights, digital village initiative and innovation hubs, Area Based Collaborative Research grant to develop digital components of economic sectors, and upskilling and reskilling of graduates.
Abang Johari announced this when delivering his 2020 State Budget speech at the August House here yesterday.
He said the allocation was part of the state government’s Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy 2018-2022 to achieve its digital development agenda.
“These initiatives focus on precision agriculture, Industry 4.0, tourism, smart city, e-commerce and digital government. Thus far, the state has provided a sum of RM750 mln for this purpose,” he added.
