KUCHING: More facilities, including a children’s playground, will be set up at the Taman Resident park in Jalan Kong Ping here.
Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang said RM50,000 under the rural transformation project fund would be allocated for the purchasing and installation of playground equipment.
“Although setting up the playground is quite a basic thing, but I think it is a good start and I believe that it will benefit the residents here,” he said during a visit today.
“Other facilities such as garden lights, benches and gazebo would also be set up as suggested by one of the residents who is an architect.”
He added that rubbish bins would also be provided. “For a change, I would also love to see the park planted with fruit trees as well as Sakura trees (Tecoma trees). The council will work together with the residents on this.”
On the suggestion by a resident to put up exercising equipment for the elderly, Lo said MPP would look into this.
“We have already spent RM100,000 to construct foot paths and walking tracks, and they have been beautifully done.
“I’m happy to see that following the completion of the facilities, many have started to come out for morning and evening exercises.”
