KUCHING: Projek Rakyat (People’s Projects) worth RM600 million has been approved by the state government and is ready for implementation.
This was revealed by Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian in a recent statement made in conjunction with Gawai Dayak and Raya Aidilfitri.
“The Projek Rakyat is being implemented by various agencies under Ministry of Local Government and Housing, in particular 26 local government authorities, local councils as well as Department of Drainage and Irrigation (DID) and Housing Development Corporation (HDC),” he said.
On Gawai Dayak, Dr Sim said, “It is truly a unique celebration because it is not only a celebration by the Dayak community or a mere public holiday by the rest of the community. It is a celebration for all races.”
Touching on Raya Aidilfitri, Dr Sim mentioned that open house is basically an occasion for Sarawakians to reinforce their racial harmony and unity, as well as reflecting the best of Sarawak culture and traditions.
