SIBU: Bawang Assan assemblyman Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh today (Nov 16) distributed RM635,000 in Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants to 64 longhouses in his constituency.
The funds, allocated by the Sarawak government, will be used to install streetlights in these longhouses.
“Streetlights are crucial for our longhouses,” said Wong, who is also Senior Vice-President of the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) during a ceremony at a restaurant.
“A contractor has been appointed to carry out this work at the lowest cost.”
Wong, who is now part of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government, assured constituents that they will benefit from the state government’s allocations.
“I am entitled to RM8 million annually for MRP, Rural Transformation Projects (RTP), and the Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Project (PPRMS),” he added.
“I will use this amount to help all of you as much as possible, starting next year.”
