SIBU: Since 1January to 23 April 2018, a total of RM648,433.55 in losses were reported  while 76 police reports were received from victims of the ‘Macau Scam’. 

Fourteen cases were investigated by the police in Sibu.

Sibu District Police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit called on the public not to be deceived by the sweet talk when receiving calls from strangers.

“Banks never deal with the phone. If it’s uncertain, please check in the bank or if it is a call from the government or the authorities, please check it at the station,” he said.

ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said this when contacted by reporters on Tuesday pertaining to the ‘Macau Scam’.
