LAWAS: The first phase of the Peacefulness Recreation Park project, which cost RM8.5 million, is on track for completion this April.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the project, a part of the Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA) initiative, will feature a blend of sports and extreme sports facilities.

Awang Tengah said that the park would include jogging and cycling tracks, prayer and restroom amenities, ample parking, kiosks, children’s play areas, rock climbing spots, archery fields, a skatepark, and verdant spaces.

“Our vision is to model this park on the urban Lawas recreation centre, gradually introducing various elements to draw visitors from afar,” he said during a recent working visit to Sundar town.

The Deputy Premier, who also the Minister of International Trade, Industry, and Investment, added that this development would be harmonised with the riverbank construction and the upgrade of the existing field and recreation park.

Also present were NRDA Regional director Datuk Ubaidillah Abdul Latip, Lawas District Officer Ladin Atok, the Premier’s political secretary Awangku Zainal Abedin Dato Pengiran Jawa, and Lawas District Council secretary Zulkipli Sahari.
