SARIKEI: Good news for the residents of Bukit Kinyau as the government through the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development has approved allocations for the construction of a road that will connect the area and Sarikei.

Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the project involves a 17-kilometre long route from Kinyau straight to Sarikei, involving an allocation of RM80 million.

The high-impact project, he said, not only boosts Bukit Kinyau’s potential as a fishing village but able to accelerate the economic growth of the local community.

“The distance is 17 kilometres, from Kinyau straight to Sarikei and will pass the road near Sarikei Hospital.
“Hence, I would like to thank the federal government for approving this allocation,” he said when attending the Ngiling Bidai ceremony at the Sare Community Hall here on yesterday (June 24).

Len Talif, who is also Kuala Rajang assemblyman called for the support and cooperation of all parties so that the implementation of the project runs smoothly and perfectly.

Bukit Kinyau has existed since the 1950s and is a village with more than 60 houses that can only be reached via river transport from Sarikei and Tanjung Manis.

“The implementation of this project is in line with the existence of Taman Agro in Sarikei. This will certainly benefit Kinyau’s potential in various aspects, including as a resort and fishing area,” he said.
