DEBAK: Works to upgrade the Debak Health Clinic, which has been operating for more than 45 years old, is going on smoothly.
Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Development Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam recently met with the parties involved to detail the scope and specifications of the project.
“Alhamdulillah so far the planning is going on well.
“I hope that the next process will also go on smoothly in the hope of helping to improve the clinic facilities that the people are hoping for,” he said.
He expressed this during the handing over of the Hemodialysis Machine under the Kidney Patient Special Assistance Initiative 2024 Betong Division which was officiated by the Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah at Dewan Millenia near here, today.
Razi explained that the project would be implemented by the Sarawak government through the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA).
“This clinic is one of the main focus for development under the federal government, however the project will be implemented by BDDA, so that it can be executed immediately. There is no need to wait for a period of three to five years for approval and implementation.
“At least this year, the project has moved, especially in the preparation of the necessary documents,” he said.
Razi added that the project to upgrade the clinic involved the proposal to build a new block of the Mother and Child Health Clinic (KKIA), build a Dental Clinic and upgrade the Hemodialysis Unit at a total cost of RM9 million.
“Improving the facilities at Debak Health Clinic is significant as it has many shortcomings, especially KKIA which is already 45 years old.
“In addition to the factors, many cases had to be referred clinics outside of Debak including Sarikei, Sibu, Sri Aman and Kuching.
“In that regard, it is necessary to upgrade Debak Health Clinic as overall, not only the equipment but also the building,” he said.
