SIBU: The Ministry of Housing and Local Government has approved a rebuilding loan amounting to RM900,000 for 30 family units of Rumah Entering Usah longhouse here.
Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Branch said it had a role in this success. Senator Robert Lau visited the site today (August 22) to perform an earth-breaking ceremony for the project.
Lau in his speech thanked the Sarawak Government led by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) for approving the loan.
“The State Government is sympathetic to the wellbeing of the rural community and this is one of the schemes to assist them,” he said.
The condition of Rumah Entering is in bad shape. The residents of the longhouse have already cleared and levelled the new site.
Present at the ceremony were representatives from the other three component parties of GPS, namely PBB, PDP and PRS.
Political secretaries to chief minister Daniel Bujal and Romeo Christopher Tegong, councillors from Sibu Rural District Council and Sibu Municipal Council were also present.
