KUCHING: Construction of the ambitious RM90 million Dewan Usahawan Bumiputera Sarawak (DUBS) mixed-development project here is now set to begin.
A symbolic handing over of site was held on Friday (Nov 15), officiated by DUBS president Datu Abang Helmi Tan Sri Ikhwan, who presented the site to contractor Musyati Sdn Bhd.
Musyati Sdn Bhd was represented by its executive director, Abdul Rahman Ahmad.
“This project is more than just a building; it is a symbol of the bumiputera business community’s active role in Sarawak’s economic development,” said Abang Helmi during the ceremony.
“It will be a catalyst for growth, enabling bumiputera entrepreneurs to contribute more significantly to the state’s future.”
The project, situated on 1.39 acres of prime land at Jalan Ong Tiang Swee, was awarded to DUBS by the Sarawak government in 2021.
It will feature a cutting-edge design inspired by the DUBS logo, symbolising entrepreneurship, pride, and humility among Sarawak’s multi-ethnic bumiputera business communities.
The development will include two seven-storey blocks with a basement, connected by a link bridge spanning the top three levels; 87 units of commercial office space, including the DUBS corporate office and a multi-purpose resource centre; 11 commercial retail outlets on the ground floor; as well as parking facilities for 185 cars and 72 motorcycles across the basement and second level.
The project is envisioned to serve as a hub for business growth, reflecting DUBS’ commitment to supporting bumiputera entrepreneurs.
The project will be funded through a combination of grants from the Sarawak government and internal and external financing by DUBS.
It is scheduled to be completed over 24 months by Nov 14, 2026.
