KUCHING: The public are advised to plan their trips ahead for tomorrow’s (Dec 10) Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) Road Race 1.0 Championship as some roads will be closed to accommodate the event.

According to Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah, the road closure will commence on Dec 10, at 7.30 am and will reopen after the programme concludes.

The closed roads include Sultan Tengah Road Traffic Light (Petra Jaya Fire Station), Sultan Tengah Road Traffic Light, Samariang Road and Tan Sri Abang Ikhwan Road.

“Ten senior officers along with 61 members of the Royal Malaysia Police will be assigned to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety throughout the race.

“The public are advised to plan their travels, choose alternative routes, and comply with the instructions of the police officers on duty. For further inquiries, please contact the Kuching District Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at 082-259900,” he said.

The cycling competition will start at the Kuching Civic Centre and conclude at the Kuching North City Hall Headquarters, Bukit Siol with a total of 295 local and international participants to join the race, divided into two categories: 124km and 65km. The race will commence at 6 am at the Kuching Civic Centre.

The race route encompasses a diverse set of roads, starting from Kuching Civic Centre navigating through Crookshank Road, Tan Sri Ong Kee Hui Road, Central Timur Road, Deshon Road, Ban Hock Road, Sri Aman Roundabout, Abell Road, Chan Chin Ann Road, Padungan Road, Tunku Abdul Rahman Road, Temple Street, Wayang Street, Main Bazaar Road, Tun Abang Haji Openg Road, Satok Road, Abang Kipali Interchange, Abang Haji Mohammad Zin Roundabout, and Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub Road, where the race officially begins at 0km.

The course further progresses through Abang Haji Suleiman Roundabout, Stadium Road Roundabout, Casuarina Road, Diplomatic Road, Sultan Tengah Roundabout, Sultan Tengah Road, Lingkaran Samariang Road, Pasir Pandak Junction, FAC Road, Camar Junction, Matang Jaya Lane, KopoDim Garden, Telaga Air Junction, Polytechnic Kuching Junction, Rambungan Junction, Bandar Baru Samariang Junction, Casuarina Road, Demak Jaya Roundabout, Demak Laut, Keruing Road, BCCK, Demak Jaya Roundabout, Abang Haji Suleiman Roundabout, Sarawak Golf Club, Petra Jaya Fire Station, Samariang Road, and concluding at DBKU, Bukit Siol.
