Senior Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the state JKR would repair the road.

“When I received the news about the sinkhole, I forwarded it to the state JKR because it is under its jurisdiction.

“Early investigation has found that the sinkhole may have occurred because of the ongoing sewerage works nearby,” he said.

Fadillah said this when met by reporters after attending the townhall session of Wawasan Kemakmuran Bersama 2030@Sarawak at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today (April 1).

The Petra Jaya assemblyman added that after the road repair, the state JKR would have to conduct further investigation to determine the definite cause of the sinkhole.

“As of now, the JKR will close the road to make way for the repair works and once the sinkhole is fixed and the affected lane is identified as safe, it will be open to road users again,” he said.
