MIR: A total of 11 major routes will be temporarily closed or diverted on Sept 16 to accommodate the Maulidur Rasul processions.
Miri District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said that the closures and diversions will be in effect from 5.30 am until the conclusion of the event.
The division-level Maulidur Rasul parade, involving 49 contingents from government and private agencies, will begin and end at the Miri Civic Centre.
To ensure the smooth flow of traffic, the police has implemented the following road closures: Bulatan Kipas/Jalan Kipas, Jalan Bintang/Jalan Merdu, Jalan Sylvia/Jalan Merdu, Jalan Post, Jalan Setia Raja, Jalan Nakhoda Gampar/Jalan South Yu Seng/Simpang Jalan Merpati and Simpang Jalan Persekutuan.
Additionally, certain routes will be diverted as follows: Sylvia Street Traffic Lights U-Turn, Jalan Broke Traffic Light U-Turn and Mega Signal Lamp U-Turn.
The public is advised to avoid parking on road shoulders to prevent traffic congestion. Drivers are also reminded to comply with the instructions of police officers on duty.
