BINTULU: Several roads in Bintulu will be temporarily closed in preparation for the Sarawak Day celebrations on 22 July to ensure smooth proceedings and the safety.
Supt Bintulu district police chief, Nixon Joshua Ali said the event will take place at Lasar Kenyalang, the site of the old Bintulu airport.
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) announced the following road closures starting from 5pm to 12am on July 22.
- Jalan Abang Galau, from the left side of the old Bintulu airport to the Paragon traffic light.
- The route from the JKR traffic lights to the Paragon traffic light at Jalan Sultan Iskandar.
- Jalan Tun Razak, from the right side of the old Bintulu airport to the four-way intersection towards Parkcity.
“A total of 410 police officers, including 31 senior officers and 379 lower-ranked officers, will be deployed to manage the event and ensure the safety and security of all participants.
“Motorists are advised to use alternative routes for their activities within the city. The police will monitor the situation and reopen roads as necessary,” he said.
For public safety, the use of drones is strictly prohibited without approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).
