KUCHING: The bollard road dividers installed at the Kuching International Airport (KIA) here have been dismantled on Wednesday afternoon by the relevant airport authorities.
The bollards were installed due to errant drivers who parked dangerously but instead it became an eyesore which caused more traffic jams especially on rainy days.
When contacted, the Member of Parliament for Bandar Kuching, Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen said that he received many complaints on the road dividers from members of the public.
He added that after making a request to the Transport Minister, Anthony Loke Siew Fook on Monday, the matter was dealt with immediately.
Dr Kelvin also said that they took into consideration that the metal bollards may pose a danger to large vehicles and by removing them, the traffic flow will be smoother.
He urged drivers to park properly at the airport and relevant authorities to take the necessary actions.
