Road upgrading to benefit 12 longhouses, one school

SIBU: Upgrading of the 8.2km Tanjung Penasu – Batu Burak Road will benefit 12 longhouses and one primary school.

Second Minister of Finance, Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, who did a site inspection yestersday, said the total cost of the project is RM16million.

“The project which commenced on October 2015 is expected to be completed by October this year,” he said, adding that the upgrading of road is 72 per cent completed at the moment.

The site inspection was also attended by Public Works Department (JKR) Regional Manager, Cassidy Morris.

According to Wong, who is also Bawang Assan Assemblyman, the upgrading of the Tanjung Penasu – Batu Burak Road is according to R3 standard.

“This is very important road because it will benefit 12 longhouses and one primary school once it’s completed and we do the upgrading of the Tanjung Penasu – Batu Burak Road according to R3 standard,” he said.

He therefore said the upgrading of the road is under JKR.

United People’s Party (UPP) Sibu Community Service Board deputy chairman Andrew Shilling, Temenggong Stanley Geramong, Pemanca James Semilan, Penghulu Jeffery Sut and Penghulu Richard Ampi were among those present.
