SIBU: Road users returning to their home towns ahead of the Gawai Dayak festival on June 1 and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration on June 15 are advised to drive carefully along the Pan Borneo Highway construction project.

Borneo Utara (LBU) Sdn Bhd project manager for the Simpang Bintangor-Julau and Sibu Airport-Sungai Kua alignment, Liew Hin Leong said this was to ensure they reached their destination to meet their loved ones safely.

Following the construction of the project along the 76.24-km stretch, he said that particular alignment was uncomfortable for driving.

“We would like to apologise for the difficulties faced by road users. It is hoped that all drivers will practise a cautious attitude,” he said at the road safety campaign event at the office of the Batang Rajang bridge project site here yesterday.

According to him, he had been involved in many road construction projects  and the major cause of accidents in road construction project areas was human negligence.
