SARATOK: Road users plying the Saratok-Sarikei route are advised to be careful and to always follow the instructions on the signboards.
Krian assemblyman Friday Belik said road users had a role to play to prevent accidents from happening.
He thanked all parties involved, “especially the Public Works Department (JKR), the contractor as well as the Saratok police, for ensuring that the Saratok-Sarikei route is safe to use at all times.”
“Several improvements have also been made for the convenience and safety of road users travelling on the route.
“Among them are the addition of yellow lines (road markers still under construction), direction markers, blinkers and traffic signs (speed limits and diversions),” he told the media when asked about the opening of a new route at Simpang Roban effective today.
Meanwhile, the JKR Pan Borneo Highway Unit in a statement on Facebook said the opening of the new route was to reduce accidents at the P-turn near Simpang Roban which often happened before.
