SARIKEI: Travelling from Sarikei to Tanjung Manis will take a much shorter time once a 17km road connecting the two places has been completed.
According to Repok assemblyman Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii, the road costing about RM300 million would be completed within four years.
“Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg officiated at the groundbreaking ceremony of the project on April 6, 2019.
“Sarikei residents and traders are very grateful to the chief minister for having approved the road,” he told the New Sarawak Tribune on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the people of Sarikei expressed their appreciation to Huang for his hard work in developing the division and helping them.
They noticed that Huang is always striving to do the best for them such as upgrading roads and drainage, improving basic amenities of schools, churches, mosques and temples through the rural transformation project (RTP).
The construction of the road from Sarikei to Tanjung Manis had been the dream and hopes of Sarikei people especially the traders.
