KUCHING: The Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) held its annual Road2Growth Sarawak programme aimed at accelerating the growth of Industry 4.0 in the state.
The programme features four tracks, focusing on funding, technology solutions by Co9P, training and talent upskilling through TENTRA, and the KUSKOP-MTDC Technology Adoption Programme for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and cooperatives.
It offers participants the opportunity to engage with financial experts, explore industry-specific applications of Industry 4.0, enhance skill sets, and discover business opportunities through networking.
The event held in collaboration with Sarawak Digital Economic Corporation Berhad (SDEC) took place here today (June 5) with key industry stakeholders in attendance, including SDEC’s Chief Executive Officer, Sudarnoto Osman and its management team.
MTDC chief executive officer Mohammad Hazani Hassan said Road2Growth serves as a platform to showcase the services provided by MTDC, including funding programmes, Technopreneur Training Academy (TENTRA) programmes, 14.0 technology solutions by MTDC Centre of 9 Pillars (Co9P), business advisory services, and MTDC Technology Centres.
“This initiative aims to disseminate information and foster collaboration in the field of technology and innovation.
“The collaboration between MTDC and SDEC began in 2022 with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop the IR Prototyping lab.
“The lab, which is supported by anchor companies 3D Gens Sdn Bhd, T-Robot, and Akar Indah Engineering Sdn Bhd, serves as a hub for end-to-end Industry 4.0 adoption. It provides technology, experts, and local capacity development programmes to create a strong Industry 4.0 ecosystem in Sarawak,” he said.
He stressed the importance of MTDC’s presence in Sarawak to boost the adoption of Industry 4.0, highlighting the strategic collaborations with agencies like SDEC and investment in nine companies amounting to RM16,597,781.
“The goal is to achieve Sarawak’s vision of becoming a developed state by 2030 through innovation, talent development, and digitalisation,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sudarnoto expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration with MTDC, stating that it would motivate participation from various stakeholders in accelerating digital adoption and supporting Sarawak’s digital economy.
“SDEC has created an ecosystem that provides services and opportunities for start-up companies, including collaboration spaces, development programmes, funding, networking activities, and technology partnerships.”
“Through the partnership with SDEC, MTDC has also established talents through the Technology Accelerator programme, mentoring over 100 participants from five Sarawak universities.This collaboration aims to develop a skilled workforce capable of driving Sarawak’s digital economy,” said Sudarnoto.
